The Next Level of Recycling
The manufacturers that belong to the FiberClay Council® have made additional
investments to take their environmentally progressive paper recycling
facilities to the next level; that of sustainability. Now, instead of only
utilizing the cellulose fibers in recyclable paper, the other components of
those original paper grades are made into new products. This new level of
recycling prevents millions of pounds of recycling residual materials from
being disposed of as waste in landfills each day.
FiberClay™ product manufacturing is the result of using virtually all of the
valuable ingredients in recyclable paper.
The base components of FiberClay™ products are the natural mineral fillers
|
used in making printing and writing grades as well as the cellulosic
materials in those grades that are not suitable for recycling into new paper
products. These components primarily contain ingredients such as kaolin
clay, calcium carbonate and fractioned cellulose fibers.
The relative proportions of these components vary according to each
FiberClay™ producer's manufacturing process.
These components are reformulated using patented processes that involve
heating, pressing and final drying. FiberClay™ products can be engineered so
that finished product has a range of granular sizes, controlled moisture
levels and other designed performance features to fulfill the needs of a
wide variety of selected applications.
